Feeding Guidelines

Breastfeeding

  • Feed on demand - typically every 2-3 hours for newborns
  • Watch for hunger cues: rooting, hand-to-mouth, fussing
  • Expect cluster feeding during growth spurts
  • Sessions typically last 15-45 minutes

Formula Feeding

  • Follow 2.5 oz per pound per day guideline
  • Feed every 3-4 hours, but watch baby's cues
  • Discard unused formula after 1-2 hours
  • Never microwave bottles - warm in warm water
